Obiettivi formativi
Gli obiettivi formativi dell'insegnamento sono di fornire a studenti e studentesse gli elementi per l'organizzazione di un cantiere forestale e creare sensibilità in merito alla tematica della sicurezza in ambiente agricolo e forestale, stimolando riflessioni per la messa in opera di buone pratiche in linea con le normative vigenti.
Studentesse e studenti acquisiranno inoltre conoscenze relative ai processi di trasformazione del legno e alle caratteristiche dei prodotti a base di legno, e strumenti per valutare le possibilità di impiego del legno e dei prodotti derivati in un’ottica di sostenibilità.
Aim of the course is both to know the basic elements to organize a forestry yard and to improve the agro-forestry safety topics, stimulating the students to think and to realize good practices in line with the current standard.
The course also aims at providing knowledge on the wood processing and the characteristics of wood-based products, and capability to assess the sustainable use of wood and derived products.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi
L'insegnamento permette a studentesse e studenti di acquisire nozioni e strumenti utili per l'organizzazione delle attività in bosco e per comprendere le peculiarità del settore della trasformazione del legno. La formazione è arricchita dalle seguenti competenze:
Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione
- descrivere l'organizzazione di un'impresa boschiva (pubblica o privata) e la gestione della sicurezza nei cantieri forestali;
- illustrare le principali proprietà ed impieghi dei prodotti a base di legno ed i relativi processi produttivi.Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate:
- saper scegliere tecnologie, prodotti e macchine appropriati per ogni realtà operativa.Autonomia di giudizio
- collegare aspetti di gestione del lavoro e della sicurezza nei cantieri forestali;
- valutare le possibilità di impiego dei prodotti a base di legno in funzione delle loro caratteristiche e in un’ottica di sostenibilità.Abilità comunicative

Through the course, the student can gain knowledge and instruments that are useful for organizing the operations into the woods and for understanding the characteristics of the wood processing sector. The education is enriched by the following competencies:

- describing the organization of a forest enterprise (public or private) and the safety management in forestry yards;
- illustrating the main properties and applications of wood-based products and the relative production processes.
Applying knowledge and understanding
- ability to choose technologies, products, and machines suitable for any operational context.

- connecting the aspects related to work management and safety of forestry yards;
- assessing the use of wood-based products based on their properties and considering their sustainable use.
Communication skills
A base aim of the course is mastering the multidisciplinary communication between the extraction of the raw material and its following first and second processing.

L'insegnamento fa riferimento all'area di gestione sostenibile delle risorse forestali.
Tempi e metodi del lavoro forestale.
Ergonomia e sicurezza nei lavori in bosco.
La normativa vigente in Italia (D.Lgs. 81/08) e sua pertinenza con i lavori forestali.
La valutazione del rischio e il DVR (documento di valutazione dei rischi): che cosa sono e come si applicano al settore forestale.
Elementi della valutazione del rischio dei lavori in bosco: sopralluogo, lista di controllo, responsabilità, formazione.
Principali fattori di rischio nei lavori in bosco e loro regolamentazione: rischi fisici, biologici e movimentazione manuale dei carichi.
La Direttiva Macchine (2006/95/CE) e la Mother Regulation per macchine ed attrezzature usate in ambito forestale.
Stesura di un documento di valutazione dei rischi rumore o vibrazioni.

Biomasse legnose e biocombustibili: legna da ardere, cippato, pellet
Caratteristiche e impieghi dei principali prodotti a base di legno: legno lamellare, Crosslam, pannelli a base di legno
Durabilità naturale del legno e dei prodotti derivati
Il legno modificato: processi chimici e trattamento termico
Legislazione, normativa tecnica e certificazioni: Regolamenti UE, norme tecniche ISO – EN - UNI, certificazioni di gestione forestale sostenibile
Sostenibilità dei prodotti a base di legno: carbon footprint, valutazione del ciclo di vita, stoccaggio di anidride carbonica

The elements of a correct risk evaluation: site inspection, checklist, responsibilities, training.

Modalità di insegnamento
L'insegnamento è articolato in 56 ore di didattica frontale, suddivise in lezioni in base al calendario accademico, e 24 ore di esercitazioni svolte in aula, in bosco e presso imprese del settore. La didattica frontale consta di lezioni teoriche tenute dal/la docente e da seminari tenuti da esperti del settore. Durante l'insegnamento sono previste verifiche di apprendimento sia in aula sia tramite la piattaforma Moodle volti a controllare la comprensione degli argomenti trattati. La frequenza è facoltativa ed è stimolato un frequente accesso a Moodle. La prova finale sarà uguale per frequentanti e non.
The course consists of 56 hours of frontal teaching, divided out depending on the academic calendar, and of 24 hours of in-class labs and field excursions, both into the forestry yards and by enterprises of the sector. The frontal teaching consists of theoretical lessons held by the lecturer and of seminars held by experts in the field. Assessment of the learning is envisaged during the course, both in-class and through the Moodle platform, in order to evaluate the knowledge and understanding of the arguments discussed. Attendance is facultative and frequent access to Moodle is encouraged. The final exam will be the same for those who attended and those who did not.

Le modalità di svolgimento dell'esame sono le seguenti per ciascun modulo:
- una prova orale che verterà sul programma dell'insegnamento e sulle relazioni svolte.
Il voto finale è costituito dalla media aritmetica dei voti conseguiti in ciascun modulo.
For each module, the final exam will be as follows:
- an oral test focused on the course program and on the reports prepared.
The final mark will be the arithmetic mean of the marks obtained in each module.
